Frequently Asked Questions

1. Are electric bikes allowed on the track?
-E-bikes of any class are not allowed on the track. We are a BMX bicycle only facility. BMX bikes and mountain bikes are best for riding on the track. See our About page for more information regarding equipment.

2. My child wants to get into BMX, where is the best place to start?
-Our Saturday beginner lesson is where we recommend all new riders to start their BMX journey. This lesson is a great introduction to riding on the track and logistics.

3. Do I need to register in advance for any of your regular weekly programs (beginner lesson, racing, open track)?
-No, all of our weekly programs are "walk-on" style. Please come to our main building when you arrive to sign in and pay our track fees.

4. Do I have to race to participate in the open track?
-No, riders can certainly just come ride in the open track without racing!

5. Can I bring my rider on their balance bike?
-Yes, balance bikes are welcome during open track times with parental supervision.

6. Do you teach riders how to ride a bike?
-While our coaches do an excellent job at teaching BMX specific skills, we do not teach riders how to ride a bike. All riders must be able to ride a bike completely and comfortably on their own without training wheels or other assistance.

7. Do you have rental equipment?
-We do not currently have rental equipment available. We do have a small track-side shop that sells BMX race specific gear, helmets, and bikes.

8. I am interested in hosting a birthday party at the track, how does that work?
-Birthday parties at the track are a great time! For all parties, you have the track to yourselves and your guests only. A USA BMX certified coach supervises the party and assists with the riders. Most parties run an "open track" style, but the coach can also run the starting gate, mock races, and BMX specific games upon request. We book birthday parties on Friday evenings, Saturdays before beginner lesson, and all day Sunday. Parties are either 2 or 3 hours and include extra set up and clean up time. Visit our Party page for more info and to inquire about a date.

9. Is there a limit on the number of riders I can have for a birthday party?
-We do not have a limit on number of riders or guests for a party. However, we recommend 20 or less riders to ensure maximum fun. We may recommend more or less riders depending on the riders' ages and skill level. We will make those recommendations when booking your party.

10. Do you offer summer camp?
Yes! We have summer camp every year. Camp is best for ages 5-13. Visit our Camps page for more information.

11. Is there food and water available for purchase at the track?
Yes, we have a fully stocked snack bar with waters, gatorades, sodas, and pre-packaged snacks available for purchase.

12. Do I need a USA BMX membership to ride on the track?
All riders need either an annual USA BMX membership or a one-day membership to ride on the track. We have one-day membership waivers you can fill out and sign (must be signed by a parent or guardian for minors) at the track when you arrive to ride.

13. My rider has progressed past beginner lesson. Do you offer more advanced lessons?
Yes, we have weekly clinics with a BMX Hall of Fame racer, Eric Rupe, every Wednesday. The BMX Competition from 4:30-5:30pm is the next step up from beginner lesson and good for novices and intermediates. The Advanced Clinic from 5:30-7:30pm is for expert level riders and racers.

14. What are your track fees?
Our track fees are $15 for racing and open track, $20 for Saturday beginner lesson and the Wednesday BMX Competition Clinic, and $35 for the Wednesday Advanced Clinic.

15. What happens is there is inclement weather (rain, high winds, etc.)? Where can I find the most up-to-date information regarding any schedule changes due to weather?
-The track does occasionally close due to weather events. These closures may last several days after the weather has passed if maintenance and/or repairs are required before we can safely re-open for riding. Our social media pages are the best place to find updated information regarding our schedule changes and updates due to weather (we post almost daily). You can follow us on Instagram (@freedomparkbmx) and Facebook (Freedom Park BMX Raceway).
