Be that kid!

NATHAN ROMAN: 7 Intermediate

Here’s another kid who caught the BMX bug. This little ripper hails from Oxnard and with the support of Grampa Chuy has come a long way with his BMX career.  He has earned the nickname The Bulldog because of his aggressive style and tough riding.  Nathan was one of the first racers to join the newly re-vamped Freedom Flyers BMX club and you can catch Nathan flying the Freedom Flyers colors at tracks throughout Ventura County.  Keep riding Bulldog! The Bulldog

TANNER SIMONS: 8 Intermediate

1013368_10151472242547499_1803524883_nSome kids get into BMX racing and some kids really get into BMX racing.  Although Tanner Simons, a Camarillo local who attends La Mariposa School, just started BMX racing less than 6 months ago, he blasted through the novice ranks to become an intermediate and is already threatening the experts.   Good thing for Tanner mom Michelle and dad Jamie are also into hanging out with new friends at the track as Michelle can be found already an active volunteer in the office while Jamie is either sweeping turns or lending a hand wherever help is needed. Tanner ‘s hard work also paid off as he was recently picked up to be on the Gold Coast Racing/Staats Team.

KYLE DAVIS: 12 Expert

2013-03-16 13.32.03

A year ago 11 Expert on the Gold Coast was simply referred to as THE CLASS – as in the class to watch.   Last week’s featured rider Caden  Ziegler almost always came out on top and these days The Class on the Gold Coast seems to be 9 Expert.  Back then Kyle Davis, who makes the short drive down weekly from Ventura to ride and race, might have been mistaken for just another 11 Intermediate occasionally thrown into that tough expert mix.  But a funny thing happened on the trips out to Freedom Park, Kyle was quietly getting faster and faster, working his way through the pack to turn expert and now hang with the best of them.

An Honor Roll student, Kyle also loves to surf when not on doing battle with the 12 experts.  A proud rider for Gold Coast Racing/Staats, Kyle’s other sponsors include Oldies Speed Shop and Woollybear Surfboards.

Caden ZeiglerAlso known on the race track as “C-Zig”, Caden’s that kid who could mix it up with the best of the national talent but who’s been content to keep it real and keep it local.  Racing BMX since age 7, the 2011 CA28 District #1 rider finished just off  the top spot with a  District #2 last year.  But for Caden the plate has always just been a number on his bike and never the pursuit.  Rather, he’s that kid who  just loves to race and as such has developed the power, strength and skills to consistently be out front.

Having come up through our grass roots Freedom Flyers program, moving then into our Gold Coast Racing Jersey, we were sad to see him go but thrilled and proud to watch him don the jersey of #1 Trophy team Redman Devo just this month.

Way to go Caden for being our new site’s first featured racer!

You can catch C-Zig racing weekly at FP BMX, but don’t think for a minute you’ll really catch him!
